Duration

Plan

Focus work at the park with real distractions around.

What happened

A border collie was playing fetch right next to us. At one point Gunner broke to run with the collie, but I gave him the Fixe! cue and he stopped in his tracks and came back to focus on me. He was on leash and pulling at times.

What Gunner showed me

Fixe! works even when he’s already moving toward something he wants. He broke for the collie’s game, but one cue stopped him and brought him back to me. Squirrels are still where I lose him, and since we started scent work he’s gotten way better at finding where they are.

Handler check

Until we’ve worked on leash pressure and loose leash walking, I need to bring the harness if he’s going to pull.

Next session

Bring the harness. Keep testing focus and Fixe! around movement and play.
